You can hide your status update from friends, by go to Settings on the upright corner, then go to Privacy. Then just you who can look your own status, but no one can read. You can choose friends who can see your status.
And also you can disable to show these on your profile updates:
Comment on or like a note
Comment on or like a photo or album
Comment on or like a video
Comment on or like a link
Change relationship status
