Active Directory Service stores information about users, groups, domains, and other network specific data. To determine which users have access to certain programs within the network requires a special parameter. Windows 2000 users can directly access the search window, but in Windows XP this window is hidden. To remove it, click 'Start | Run' and enter the command
rundll32•dsquery,OpenQueryWindow
You need to enable Active Directory services before. If do not, you'll only get an error report.
